If there is one must travel to place you need to put on your schedule this summer it is Clear Lake, Iowa.

Clear Lake truly has something for everyone. Whether you like to fish, camp, shop, eat, listen to music, or just hang out, Clear Lake has it all!

First, the obvious thing to talk about is the lake itself. Clear Lake is a draw for any fisherman, boater or camper. At State Park you can enjoy camping, or hold a family reunion at the beautiful Lodge, like we do every year. You can enjoy dinner at many of the restaurants around the lake, including the Landing where you can enjoy a delicious meal and look out at the beauty of Clear Lake at the same time!

One of the must things to do at the lake is to take a ride on the Lady of the Lake. Take a leisurely 90 minute ride and hear some interesting history about Clear Lake. It is a great way to enjoy the beauty of Clear Lake.

If you are a music history buff you probably know that Buddy Holly played his last concert in Clear Lake at the Surf Ballroom. It is the host every year to the Winter Dance Party that brings people from all over the world. But the music doesn’t stop there. The Surf is a destination concert venue of many musicians and you can take in a concert there any time of year!

From memorial day to the third weekend in October you can stop by the Clear Lake Farmer’s market. This is a popular farmer’s market that has expanded their vendors and you can find much more than just locally grown produce!  You can also find some delicious baked goods, homemade soaps, crafts, fresh flowers and much more!

As long as you are picking some things up at the Farmer’s Market, you should take a stroll along Clear Lake’s charming Main Street. From truly unique boutiques and shops to antique stores and more.  You can pick up some delicious food at Starboard Market or stop at Cabin Coffee for coffee and more! If you want something a little more adult to drink, Clear Lake has their very own brewery-Lake Time Brewery. There are just too many places to mention!

If you are a biker, then you know that every Wednesday night, The Other Place fires up the outside grill, opens up their party deck and holds bike night!  It is a great place to ride your motorcycle to on a weeknight for good food and great friends. You can get in a quick ride around the lake, too!

If you ride a bike of the unmotorized kind, make plans to attend the Bicycle, Blues and BBQ Festival in July. It is a race, a festival of great food an music.

Speaking of July in Clear Lake, you can’t talk about those two things without mentioning the biggest and best Fourth of July celebration around! Clear Lake pulls out all the stops from a carnival by the lake that includes food, rides and an arts and crafts show, to a parade that has draws thousands. The Fourth always brings you an incredible Fireworks show over the lake. What could be better than that?

One of the other continuing events in Clear Lake that is a must attend is Thursdays on Main. The local shops stay open, there is live entertainment, including things for the kids to do, food vendors, and the night ends by watching a movie under the stars, in the park.

As you can see, Clear Lake has SO much to offer.  I have only just touched on some of the great things you can find in this beautiful town. You can check out Clear Lake for yourself. Visit their website to learn more. You also follow them on FacebookTwitterInstagramPinterest, and YouTube.
