Today, the number 22 popped into my head. Maybe because it was our table number for Saturday night’s Gala, it was fresh in my head. Regardless, it was the number for today. Here is that picture: When I saw the picture that was number 22 today, I thought of many things. Most of all, when I saw it, I thought, here is another place I never thought I would be, another place I never thought I would see! We went to Washington D.C. for the National Inclusion Projects 2012 Champions Gala. I was excited when I heard it would be there. It was some place I had never been and some place I always wanted to see. It not only did not disappoint, but it exceeded all my expectations! We were treated to perfect weather while there, which made it easy to do a lot of walking during our free time. We tried to get a White House tour for our group but it happened to fall at the same time as the Garden Tour so we couldn’t have one. It was still amazing to see from the outside. During our walks we saw how beautiful the area really was. My husband and I stayed an extra day so we could see the sights. We went to the Smithsonian, which was incredible. I do want to go back when we have more time to see more! After that we walked to the Washington monument which was still under repair, but incredibly beautiful, just the same. I could have stood there for a long time. Of course, if you are at the monument, you have to walk to the Lincoln Memorial. Again, beautiful. I stood at both places, amazed at the beauty of it all and amazed that I got to see it for myself. From there we walked back to the hotel, with a stop by the Vietnam Memorial Wall. I got to thinking about how lucky I have been. I never expected in my life to be able to travel so much or to be able to see so many places that I had only ever seen in magazines, or on television. I feel very lucky. The traveling has truly enriched my life.
